Botcha optimistic about Volkswagen unit in Vizag

Minister says everything going well on the talks front

: The Minister for Major Industries, Botcha Satyanarayana, has expressed confidence that the German car major, Volkswagen, would set up an entire car manufacturing unit in Visakhapatnam. Replying to questions at a press conference here on Monday, he said that as far as the discussions were concerned, everything was going on well. He referred to the visit of a delegation led by him to Germany and said it was only after that, another team of Volkswagen officials had visited Andhra Pradesh.
He said the company originally contemplated the setting up of a CKD (completely knocked down) kits assembly unit at Visakhapatnam, but was now considering an entire car manufacturing unit in the State. He expressed the hope that Andhra Pradesh stood a very good chance of getting the unit established here.
