Sit In STYLE

Sit in STYLE

THE DECOR of your office seems to say a lot about the place where you work. Why, you can even make a style statement with the kind of upholstery you choose for your four-wheeler. If you are willing to spend that wee bit much then you can transform your home, office, or car into a work of art that will be your neighbour’s envy. Today, the market is swarmed with several stores that offer you designer office furniture and car upholstery that will not only be comfortable to sit on, but will also match the colours of the walls, cabins, or your car! The latest to hit the market is the Stanley Seating range.

Stanley, stockist and lifestyle brand in leather upholstery, recently opened its corporate office that also doubles as a living showroom.

The store, designed by Sandeep Mukherjee and Sarita Fernandes, founders of the furniture-product design house — Quetzal, is divided into six areas — reception, leather display, marketing, accounts, administration and senior management. Walk in, and you will notice a wide range of leather seating occupying the various corners of this swanky place.

For starters, Stanley offers Barcelona chairs in contemporary designs inspired from the stable of the famed architect Mies van der Rohe. These chairs also have an image of a Mercedes set in frosted glass. These chairs are made from leather, brushed stainless steel, dark wood, and glass.

Stanley, said to be the only TUV ISO-9001 certified company in the car seating and upholstery industry in India, offers six varieties of Italian leather hides. Right opposite the reception area is the leather display area. And these hides can also be used for custom-styling car interiors and sofas to floor tiles and wall cladding.

As you observe the leather hides, you simply can’t miss the curved glass wall between the reception and the display area. The tones of the reception area are lighter and more spaced, with the colour of the flooring making the essential difference. From a roughly textured granite floor in the reception to the polished dark wood merbau floor of the display area, the change is vivid. As part of Stanley’s policy to bring customers closer to the experience, a flat-screen monitor offers an open view of the manufacturing zone. Stanley uses the latest technologies and materials combined with expert, highly-trained craftsmanship to ensure that the best quality standards are achieved. Last year Stanley was called upon by Aston Martin to upholster the prototype of new V8 Vantage for the Detroit Auto Show — a first by any Indian. When it comes to corporate seating, Stanley uses the same “expertise”.

In this section, the store offers you sleek chairs in perforated leather, with sporty steering wheels in three distinctive colour combinations. To give customers a taste of their skills in designing a conference room, the store has a mini-conference room which houses a glass-topped steel-wood table which has, in the centre two boxes filled with white sand and pebbles. The range of the Stanley Ross collection of corporate chairs runs through the office, with each section showcasing one model, colour coded to suit the workspace. All the chairs are named after famous cars. So you have a sophisticated Lexux to the refined Esprit for instance.

Sunil Suresh, CEO and founder of Stanley, explains: “These chairs are by far the best you can get in the country today in terms of styling and ergonomics. And they don’t come at a high premium.”

This apart Stanley also offers genuine leather tiles called Stanley Saxony. “The office had to be representative of what we offer to consumers. We offer a luxurious, stylish and sophisticated lifestyle. The office is a prime example for our customised seating. When people walk into choose, there’s nothing like the real feel of the entire hide. They can pick their colours, styles, combinations, and the extent to which they can customise their car, sofa, or chair,” explains Mr. Sunil, who then adds that Narayan Murthy, Azim Premji, Vijay Mallya, and Shahrukh Khan have been his customers.

Stanley can be contacted on 22226237.
